Sculpture
While in school at SCAD, I studied mold making and foundry processes. Working with rubber, plaster, and even silica slurry molds for our foundry metal pours. Here are a couple of pieces that came from that time.
A casting of my own hand, poured in iron (finished with a bit of india ink and a light wax). With a cast of a plastic play ball poured in Stainless steel. Mounted to a frame built from salvaged wood.
My attempt at a low relief, one off piece carved from wax, poured in bronze.
My Sequential Art side of me getting the best of me. A cast Iron bust of "The Iron Giant", or rather the closing scene from the movie, as his bits begin returning to him. I love putting a narrative in my sculpture, and this was a perfect piece for the material.
